Dr. Yokoe’s research has focused on evaluating methods for efficient detection of healthcare-associated infections as well as community-acquired infections of public health importance such as tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. She is currently a co-investigator in a CDC Prevention Epicenter five-year research grant and will be leading a multi-center extension of her previous work evaluating surveillance methods based on antimicrobial exposure and ICD-9 diagnosis codes to detect surgical site infections following the surgical procedures highlighted in the national Surgical Care Improvement Project. She is also a co-investigator in an NIH-funded Models of Infectious Disease Study five-year research project aimed at developing models for the early detection and monitoring of infectious disease outbreaks. She will be involved in developing and testing these new methods and models using data from Brigham and Women’s Hospital. .
