Research Interests Dr. Jain completed research fellowships at Duke University and at Harvard Medical School. His primary areas of research include musculoskeletal diseases and spinal cord injury. Epidemiology and Outcomes of Musculoskeletal Diseases Dr. Jain has been working with Drs. Jeffrey N. Katz (Rheumatology) and Laurence D. Higgins (Orthopaedics) on surgical and rehabilitation outcomes after joint replacement procedures and other ambulatory orthopaedic procedures. He is also studying racial differences/disparities in the utilization of surgical procedures for musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Jain has a special interest in clinical research on rehabilitative and surgical management of shoulder arthropathies. Chronic Spinal Cord Injury Dr. Jain has worked with Dr. Eric Garshick on the epidemiology of respiratory dysfunction in chronic spinal cord injury. Ongoing work also includes measurement and improvement of Health-Related Quality of Life, measurement of free-living ambulation, and determination of factors associated with healthcare utilization in persons with chronic spinal cord injury.
