Research Interests

My research interests are breast and skin cancer genetic susceptibility and etiology, DNA repair and related molecular pathways, and ultraviolet exposures. I am interested in understanding the influence of genetic and environmental exposures in cancer etiology and prevention, particularly breast and skin cancer. I am currently engaged in working on inherited susceptibility, particularly focusing on DNA repair and related pathways. The skin cancer research includes melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma. I continue to pursue my interest in genetic susceptibility to skin cancer examining additional candidate molecular pathways, such as cell cycle genes and pigmentation genes. In addition to genetic susceptibility research, I am also interested in understanding the role of ultraviolet exposures (artificial and natural) in disease etiology in various populations.
