Dr. Gao's current research aims to investigate relationships between environmental/genetic factors and risk of neurological diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD), restless legs syndrome (RLS), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Data from several large ongoing prospective cohorts have been used, including Nurses' Health Study, Health Professionals Follow-up Study, and Cancer Prevention Study II Nutrition Cohort. His research interests also include nutrition policy, cognitive function, dietary methodology, and international health.
