My research interests center on clinical epidemiology of infectious diseases and health behavior. I have trained in general medicine and epidemiology. Specific topics that have been investigated include: the epidemiology of varicella and herpes zoster; pharmacoepidemiology of suspected adverse drug effects; adherence behavior and the outcomes thereof among patients on antihypertensive therapy. The setting for these investigations has been the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care HMO, which has a highly automated medical record, claims, and pharmacy database. These databases as well as primary data collection have been utilized for these investigations.
